‘Harmonisation of the Principles of Insurance Law in Europe’

(HOPINEU)

Jean Monnet Module

Project no. 600197-EPP-1-2018-1-TR-EPPJMO-MODULE

Summary of the Project

The project primarily seeks to analyse the instrument of the Principles of European Insurance Contract Law (PEICL) which will serve as a tool for comparison with the rules applicable to insurance contracts under Turkish law. In this regard, the project group aims to assess what improvements or changes would need to be carried out so as to approximate (if necessary) Turkish insurance contract law principles with the ones enshrined in the PEICL. The module is also designed to provide a broad perspective to insurance contract law principles by zooming out and comparing the private international law rules, contract law rules and relevant public law rules applicable to insurance contracts in the EU to those in place in Türkiye.
