Navigating in the Arctic: Law of the Sea and Marine Insurance Law Aspects

This seminar sought to shed light on the impact of climate change on Canada’s Northern Vessel Traffic Services Zone Regulations (NORDREG Regulations) and potentially on marine insurance policies. Risks associated with Arctic navigation and the types of policies that may provide cover for these risks (hull & machinery, protection & indemnity, marine cargo insurance) were particularly discussed along with the alternative routes to the Arctic and the potential insurance law implications of sailing through these routes.
