This seminar series, organized by Can Yeğinsu, aimed to introduce students to investment treaty law and investment treaty arbitration. As an area of law and practice, investment treaty arbitration remains a relatively new and dynamic area that involves a mix of public international law, international commercial arbitration, and public law principles. The seminars covered the theoretical and policy foundations of investment treaty law and dispute resolution by arbitration; the rules and institutions that govern the resolution of investment treaty disputes; the substantive protections applicable to the investor-state relationship and defenses available to states; and the relationship between investment treaty law and other areas of international law, public law, and human rights law.
