Comparative Law and Its Clients

October 25, 2016

Prof. Jürgen Basedow (Director of Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg) was invited to give a lecture on comparative law within the framework of Koç University Law School’s Distinguished Speakers Series. In his speech entitled “Comparative Law and Its Clients”, Prof. Basedow elaborated on the ways in which the studies on comparative law are being conducted and enquired about the stakeholders that benefit from such studies. Instead of favoring one method over others, Basedow argued for a pluralism of methods and called for the adoption of the method which would fulfil the demand of those who will benefit from the comparative study in the given inquiry.
